Pepsi - Adopted!
Introducing Princess Pepsi!! Get ready to fall in love the second you meet this precious girl, who exudes sweetness and is the kindest girl you will ever have the pleasure of knowing. Pepsi, our gorgeous English Short-Haired Pointer who is approximately 1 year old, is patiently waiting to meet her forever family.
Pepsi’s personality:
While she was a little shy as she settled in to new experiences, Pepsi has proven to be a very friendly and energetic social butterfly. She adores her walks on the lead where she can make the most of her time exploring, but above all else Pepsi loves to run!! Her routine is a quick game of zoomies, where she will stop by for a big snuggle, before taking off on another lap of the racetrack. She also loves to get her feet wet and you will often find her splashing in puddles or wading in her little shell pool. Though young and exuberant, this girl is not just all action! Pepsi is a very sweet and gentle girl who loves affection. She also likes her quiet time and enjoys being brushed, as well as the odd spot of sunbathing. To watch Pepsi enjoy the simple things in life is a true pleasure, and she has become a fast favourite among our volunteers.
Pepsi’s ideal forever home:
Pepsi's ideal forever home is one where her family will have the time to help this girl explore her world. She would love to be included in all family activities, especially those involving adventure! Pepsi is still young, so will need a family who can continue to build on her training moving forward to help her become the best doggie she can be. Pepsi would also benefit from a large backyard where she can safely enjoy her zoomies, sunbathing, and maybe a cheeky paddle! Above all else Pepsi needs a loving home where she is free to be her fun-loving self as she continues to grow and learn.
Pepsi’s story:
Pepsi came to us in March when we received a call from Karla at Midcoast Council Companion Animal Centre, who suspected her to be suffering from rat bait poisoning. The day after being picked up as a stray, Karla found her standing in a pool of blood and bleeding from her nose. She was taken immediately to Manning Veterinary Hospital in Taree, where urgent testing and treatment was carried out. Her owner was contacted but unfortunately they wanted nothing to do with her anymore, so Karla contacted us to ask if we could take Pepsi under duty of care and provide treatment. Understandably, the council were not able to commit to the cost of ongoing treatment for Pepsi so we agreed to provide this for her.
Before Pepsi could be transported to us, she took a turn for the worse. Moving her at that point was too dangerous, so our friends at Manning Vet Hospital graciously agreed to provide her with the necessary urgent treatment she required at cost price – for which we are so grateful! The following day once she was stabilised, she was brought to us by Karla and we immediately fell in love. Once she had completed her mandatory council impound time, she was signed over to us and officially became the newest member of the Sweet Pea family!
It took some time for the turn around in her health that we were all hoping for and things were touch and go for a while. But eventually, under the watchful eye of the Sweet Pea Animal Hospital Veterinary team, she pulled through! We are so thankful we were able to give this sweet girl a second chance at life.
Pepsi was apprehensive of new experiences and people at first, but it did not take her long to learn to trust and she burst out of her shell! Her loving and happy personality ensured that the hospital team and volunteers alike, all fell in love. Pepsi has since made friends with all the other doggies at the rescue and loves her walks and playtime with the volunteers daily.
Pepsi’s medical history:
Pepsi received urgent medical treatment after she was found to be suffering from rat bait poisoning. She received a plasma transfusion, IV fluid therapy and began a long course of Vitamin K to manage her blood coagulation issues. In addition to this, Pepsi had a very heavy flea burden and was most likely also suffering from anaemia because of this. She has thankfully made a full recovery, with all her recent blood work showing that she is back to normal and in tip-top shape! We are beyond thankful for the quick response from Karla - Companion Animal Officer at Midcoast Council Companion Animal Centre, which ultimately saved this beautiful girls life.
Pepsi will be desexed (now that she has fully recovered) and has been vaccinated and regularly treated for fleas, ticks and worms. She is also microchipped and ready to move into her next exciting chapter of life!
More about Pepsi:
Pepsi is a fun-loving girl who has shown great bravery in her new life. Although wary of new experiences at first, she has always given them a go and then come to realise that life can be a lot of fun! Pepsi walks well on a lead and is used to wearing a harness – she likes to show off her bum wiggle while she is out walking, which shows us how much she enjoys it! This beautiful girl deserves a safe forever home with a family who will love her like the sweet, gentle princess she is. We cannot express enough, just how sweet this little girl is. She will make an amazing addition to any family and we can’t wait to watch her shine.
Pepsi’s adoption fee is $450, which contributes towards the cost of her medical care, food and parasitic treatments. Apply to adopt this gorgeous girl today!
