Chip - Adopted!
Chip is an American Staffordshire Terrier X, who is approx 5 years old. He is a sweet, affectionate boy who desperately deserves a chance at life in a loving forever home.
Chip’s personality:
Chip is a handsome and loving boy who has had a horrible start to life. Despite this, he is the most affectionate and gentle boy, who just wants to please everyone and receive lots & lots of affection. Chip loves to play and roll in the grass! Fetch is one of his favourites and you can see the happiness on his face when he is running free and chasing his ball.
Chip’s ideal forever home:
Chip’s ideal forever home is one where his family will be patient and gentle with him as he settles into another new environment - he has experienced so much change and hardship in his life already. Chip only takes a minute or two to warm up to new people and experiences, and once he does, be ready for non-stop affection and love! Chip loves to go on walks and explore his environment, so his new family would have to be able to provide this for him. Chip would suit a home where he can be the centre of attention, receive lots of love and live his best life!
He is untested with cats and pocket pets since he has been at the rescue, but has shown no reactivity towards the clinic cats at Sweet Pea Animal Hospital when receiving his veterinary care.
Chip’s story:
Chip is originally from the Northern Territory. His most recent owner had him transported down to NSW and reports that he was in terrible condition when he arrived. Chips poor welfare was brought to our attention - we were told that he was chained up in a yard and suffering from health issues, as well as being annorexic.
We went to speak with Chip’s owner and he was eventually surrendered to us. Chip was in serious need of veterinary care - he was suffering from a chronic eye condition, that caused inflammation and irritation to both eyes, deep skin infections, and was extremely underweight. Despite the pain that he was suffering, he was still a happy and sweet boy. Chip has come along in leaps and bounds since he arrived and is almost a brand new doggie!
Chip’s medical history:
Chip has undergone two rounds of surgery to correct the entropians he had on all four eyelids and the results have been very successful. This chronic condition would have been extremely painful for Chip and something he has suffered from his entire life! With a good diet and regular meals, he has also gone from 23.8 kg to a much healthier 27 kg. While he still has some more weight to gain, he is much happier, healthier and more energetic!
More about Chip:
Chip is a beautiful boy who was dealt a pretty rough hand in life. Since arriving at the rescue, he has been able to show his true personality and we are all in love. He has learnt to trust again and is looking for his loving forever home that will show patience, kindness and allow Chip to adapt in his own time.
Chip is snuggly, loving, playful and affectionate - what more could you want!?
Chip’s adoption fee is $450, this contributes towards his medical care, surgeries and care to date.
