Buddy
Meet Buddy, a big boy with a big heart and a beautiful face!
Buddy’s personality:
Buddy is a healthy, good-natured 16-month-old boy who enjoys exploring, playing, going for walks, and belly rubs. He bonds well with people and gets along well with other dogs. Buddy is a big dog (60kg!) and spirited. He can entertain himself by throwing toys around and mining for squeakers but is also content spending time alone. Buddy is an environmentalist - he likes to collect rubbish on his walks! He also has some identity issues, believing he is a lap dog.
Undeniably lovable, Buddy is eager to find his new family who will offer him the same warmth and affection he's ready to give. In return, Buddy promises a lifetime of loyalty and joy.
Buddy’s ideal forever home:
Preferably Buddy will find a family with experience with large dogs. Buddy has undergone training to practice his adult manners and has learned all the basics—come, sit, drop, stay, heel, leave. This training will be important for his new family to continue as he settles into his new life to ensure his good manners continue.
Buddy’s story:
Buddy was surrendered to us by his owner, who had Buddy since he was a puppy. He was taken to work as a pup, where he would ride around on the construction machinery all day! When Buddy had to be rehomed, Sweet Pea Animal Rescue was at capacity and Buddy was placed with a foster home.
Buddy has benefited from a staycation at a board-and-train facility. You can visit their Facebook page to see how well he progressed with his training: https://www.facebook.com/australianpetboarding.
He has also been attending hydrotherapy classes!
Buddy’s medical history:
Buddy is healthy, desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date with all flea, tick, and worming preventatives. As is typical with his breed type, Buddy can have seasonally sensitive skin, which is dependent on his environment. Being a large breed dog, it is important to look after his joint health as he matures.
More about Buddy:
In his foster home, Buddy lived happily with a cat and generally is relaxed around ducks and geese.
Buddy sometimes uses ‘mouthing’ as a play technique when he is excited. We are working on this with Buddy and have found that a head halti has helped in managing him when walking and with his mouthing. We recommend that his new family continue using this.
Buddy is a gorgeous boy who loves affection. He is keen to make you happy and loves being doted on. He would suit just about any home with experience in dog ownership and training. If you think there is a Buddy-sized hole in your family, please get in touch today!
Buddy's adoption fee is $450. This fee contributes to his vet work and care, ensuring he is healthy and well-cared for. It also enables us to rescue more animals in need, just like Buddy. Your contribution will make a difference in the lives of many animals.
