Charlie - Adopted!

This gorgeous little guy is Charlie 💜 He is a 10 year old Shmoodle, who we have known his entire life. Charlie has diabetes.

Charlie’s personality:
Charlie is the happiest little fellow. He is bursting with energy and absolutely loves to play fetch and go for walks and run at the beach and meet other dogs and snuggle and cuddle. He is an absolute angel.

Charlie’s ideal forever home:
We are looking for a loving home for Charlie, where he will receive all the attention, exercise and care that he needs. His new family will need to be dedicated to keeping Charlie well and happy. 😁 Charlie gets along well with other dogs and is good with children.

Charlies story:
Charlie's mum is a human nurse who works long night shifts. Charlie is missing out on important exercise time and shift work makes managing his insulin dependant diabetes very difficult. We have been helping out with this, but it is not a long term solution. Charlie’s Mum has made the very difficult decision, that he needs to be in a home where he can receive the care, exercise and attention that he needs. 🥰

Charlie’s medical history:
Charlie was recently diagnosed with diabetes. He is currently receiving twice daily insulin injections and is on a strict diet to comply with his diabetes and insulin dependence.

As Charlie's diabetes has only recently been diagnosed, we are still testing regularly to determine the most appropriate dose. Charlie also has a cataract developing on his left eye, which is a common associated health issue for dogs with diabetes. We are treating his eye twice daily with an eye drop called, Acular.

Charlie broke his right foreleg when he was only 6 weeks old. He has now developed some osteoarthritis in that leg and is receiving Carprieve, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory for pain relief once daily.

We estimate that the current cost for treating Charlie's diabetes and arthritis is approximately $150 p/month.

More about Charlie:
Charlie really is such a sweet and happy boy. He loves to go for walks. He loves to cuddle. He loves to play. He loves other dogs. He loves children. He loves life!!

Charlie needs a home where he will receive the ongoing treatment and checks required by a diabetic patient. He also requires a well controlled diet and regular check ups. His family need to be committed - both financially and with their time.

Charlie’s adoption fee is $400 - the same as any other of our rescue doggies. He is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for heartworm, ticks, fleas and intestinal worms. We firmly believe that every life is as valuable as the next and we do not charge more or less based on breed, age, size or any other factor.
