Diesel and Indy - Adopted!

Two year old, three legged, small, Staffy boy & five year old, Jug X Chihuahua - besties!

Diesel’s personality:
Diesel is a happy & playful, almost 2-year-old, three legged Staffy. He is only a little fellow, weighing in at around 16kgs. He loves nothing more than to run around, wrestle, and cuddle with Indy, his 5-year-old Jug x Chihuahua sister. He's a joyful boy who is happy playing with toys but is happiest when being shown love and affection from his humans - he gives THE BEST cuddles! Hid foster dad tells us that Diesel has become his morning alarm clock - 7am is the time for pats and breakfast!!

Indy’s personality:

Indy is an adorable and spritely 5-year-old Jug x Chihuahua. She is full of life and loves to snuggle in your arms or get a good back scratch in between playtime. Her sweet nature and soulful eyes draw everyone to her, and she knows how to work it! Her best buddy is Diesel, and she is never far from his side - seeing them snuggle together is about as cute as it gets. Her foster parents tell us she entertains herself and them, overseeing all backyard bird activity.

Diesel & Indy’s ideal forever home:
Diesel’s ideal forever home will be with his much-loved sister, Indy. They are very attached to each other and are available for adoption as a package deal. We do not wish to separate them, as they are happiest when they are together and are visibly depressed when separated. They have both really thrived since being in foster care together (they were originally part of a foursome) and having some quiet time, as well as some boundaries and structure in place. They will make good use of a grassy yard, where they can spend time playing and chasing each other. And as much as these two love each other, they also need lots of human love, attention, and company - we worry that they have missed out on this in their previous home. They both seem to get on well with other doggies, so we don't anticipate any socialisation issues. They have not been tested around other animals or children, but both have very sweet natures.

Diesel and Indy are toilet trained and have both learnt to use a doggy door in their foster home, so are used to going in and out of the house as they like. They are both great on lead and love going for walks together, where they can sniff to their hearts content and learn more about the big wide world. They can't wait to meet their new family!

Diesel & Indy’s story:
Diesel and Indy, along with two other doggies, were left behind at a rental property for over a week after their previous owner was evicted. After being contacted by concerned staff at the real estate agent, we worked with local council rangers and the real estate to bring these doggies to safety. We understand that they have all spent much of their life in the backyard without much supervision, resulting in Diesel being hit by cars at least twice and none of the doggies having had the opportunity to learn much about the outside world.

Diesel’s medical history:
Sadly, Diesel arrived into our care with an old injury that had rendered his front right leg unusable. Examination and x-rays indicated previous trauma to the right elbow (most likely a break to the radius), which had resulted in severe muscle atrophy and osteoarthritic changes. We trialled Diesel on a combination of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and pain medications, but they did not reduce his pain or improve his mobility. The leg was essentially a useless appendage that got in his way and caused him significant pain, so the decision was made to amputate. We immediately saw a much happier Diesel, no longer suffering chronic pain and freely able to run around without risk of hurting his painful elbow. Diesel also had two broken canines, one with a painful abscess at its base - both teeth were also removed. Diesel was desexed during this same procedure, so our darling boy lost more than a few bits this day but he never missed a beat, recovering like a champ and smiling his big beautiful smile the whole way through. Diesel is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with all flea, tick and worming prevention.

Indy’s medical history:

Indy came into season only days after arriving in our care - we dread to think what might have happened had she still been in her previous situation. She has now been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and is up to date with all flea, tick and worming prevention. Indy has been given a clean bill of health, following her veterinary examination.
